Joey and Rachel have their first official date, but when it comes to getting physical, they just don't feel at ease. Ross likes Monica's sprayed-on tan, so he decides to get one. But confusion about the instructions (and whether to count "Mississippily") lead to multiple doses on his front and none on his back. An old friend (Amanda) of Monica's and Phoebe's moves back into town from England. They try to cut her out of their lives by ignoring her, without success. It comes out that years before, Phoebe tried to do the same to Monica. Joey and Rachel realize their relationship is not going to work.
Joey: Hey, what do you say we move this onto the likes of the couch?
Rachel: I say, "Cheesy line, but okay!"
Rachel: Well, this is romantic.
Joey: I'm sorry, this has never happened to me before. I'm an expert at taking off bras. I can do it with
one hand. I can do it with my eyes closed. One time I just looked at one and it popped open! I blame your bra!
Rachel: Do you think maybe, on some level, you don't want to take off my bra?
Joey: No, I don't have another level!
Ross: I went to that tanning place your wife suggested.
Chandler: Was that place... the sun?
Rachel: It wasn't just me, all right? He freaked out, too. He couldn't even undo my bra!
Monica: Wow, really? One time he just looked at my bra and it popped open.
Monica [seeing Chandler staring at her bra]: Chandler, stop! It's not going to pop open!
Chandler: You don't know!
Amanda: Wow, that accident must have been terrible! You look positively ghastly!
Chandler: Well, aren't you a treat.
